It is a fact that the Covid-19 pandemic will leave definitive marks on the lives of all of us, in different areas. When, finally, this health crisis passes (because, it is worth remembering: it is not over yet), and we enter the post-pandemic, old habits will no longer make sense, and new models, resources and behaviors will become part of the routine.
A global survey by Accenture, a management and technology consultancy, revealed that 95% of people have made – at least – one change in their lifestyle, which will be permanent, and will even carry over into their professional lives.
The changes will also be noticeable in the daily lives of drivers. Have you ever stopped to think about what changes in the driver's habit in the post-pandemic?
Driver will have more focus on hygiene
Changes related to hygiene habits should continue in the post-pandemic period. Gel alcohol, for example, will be a common item inside vehicles. The habit of sanitizing hands will be much more frequent, which is beneficial to the health of the driver and the team, as it removes the incidence of viruses and bacteria.
To give you an idea, a recent survey published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), which analyzed data on colds, flu and bronchitis from 500 clinics in England, revealed that, on average, nine times fewer cases were registered in comparison with the previous five years.
There will also be a greater concern with cleaning the car itself. The driver, who spends most of his time in the vehicle, will be more attentive to cleaning the seats, objects and items in the car in general. Cleaning products, which ensure effective and quick sanitization, will become part of what we can call the driver’s “basic kit” in the post-pandemic period.
There are those who say that the use of masks is also here to stay. It is certain that the habit will continue for a long time yet. Drivers will have masks with themselves in the post-pandemic period, being another item that will be part of the “basic kit”.
Stronger values, more engaged drivers
Values such as solidarity and empathy, which were strengthened during the pandemic, must remain stronger and be part of the behavior of drivers, changing the way they relate to managers, staff and in traffic. After all, a values revision inevitably took place and it must not go away.
The trend is for drivers to become more concerned with issues involving the care and preservation of the fleet vehicle and life itself, showing themselves to be more aware of their safety conduct. They must be even more agile and resilient in the face of proposed changes. Not bad, is it?
Digital revolution brings technologies closer
Technologies will become even more a part of drivers' lives, as the pandemic has brought about a real digital revolution, accelerating various advances and innovations. In order to avoid physical contact, facilitate everyday life and maintain interactions and work during the pandemic, solutions and software have become more used and become more of a part of everyone's routine, including drivers.
Research shows the urgent need to reorient and accelerate digital investments in response to current demands, modernizing and expanding technological capabilities in pursuit of development, security (whether in relation to the virus or other issues) and also greater organizational agility.
With this, it is expected that there will be an even more striking expansion in the use of technologies in the post-pandemic, ensuring the efficiency of fleet management as a whole. Drivers, who already used it, will be even closer to the various technological solutions, carrying out their activities in the most digital, modern and safe way possible.
Now, tell us here: would you add any other habits, which you believe will likely be incorporated or changed in the driver's routine in the post-pandemic? We want to know.
