What was the reality of fleet management at Unicampo like?
“Unicampo, in the past, had few vehicles in its fleet. So, it had a very open and flexible management. Therefore, Accidents and breakdowns began and the cost began to increase a lot. What's up, It got to the point where we had our first fatal accidents. This caught Unicampo’s attention and we needed to take quick action.”
When did this action begin to be thought of and why was it actually created?
“The first awareness action was the safety committee, with the aim of starting, together with the cooperative's internal teams, to disseminate the safety culture. We experienced many difficulties at the beginning, so telemetry actions were created.” From then on, we begin daily analyzes together with our partners. All the engagement of our target audience.”
From this point on, the company began to analyze information daily alongside its partners, promoting engagement with the target audience.
This is because Unicampo's biggest challenge was dealing with issues involving accidents and deaths. But, as Lucas himself made a point of highlighting, o Golfleet Telemetry came to solve this.
Another action aimed at the fleet's safety culture was the creation of Safety Week, in which Golfleet was invited.
“Every year, Unicampo closes for a week in September to talk about safety. In the 2022 edition, we had the support of Golfleet, the idea of talking to the partner had been coming for a while and together with Marcos Roza we managed to give a talk about planning and career.”
Lucas emphasizes that the event was exceptional and the lecture included questions and answers, which promoted the engagement of the entire internal team and cooperative members, a vital aspect for the dissemination of a safety culture among everyone involved in the fleet.

How many cars are there in Unicampo fleet management?
“We have two types of vehicles, outsourced and our own. In total, there are an average of 2.100 outsourced vehicles and 150 own vehicles. Our own cars are practically 100% Golfleet and we have an average of 120 cars including video telemetry. "
Lucas shared with us that the idea is to make Golfleet their best internal tracker, so that they can bring vehicles with our technology to their outsourced partners.
“So, we always carry out a pilot project within Unicampo to learn how to deal with this technology and extract numbers and improvement actions, so that we can take them to our outsourced cars. We don’t have a great mix of technology, we just have a good partner that brings results and preserves lives.”

What are the next steps in the company’s fleet management?
Unicampo also invested in Speed per lane (Vvia) to work together with other actions aimed at safety culture, as well as the pilot project with video telemetry.
“We always seek to go along with new technologies, so as new ones arrive, we always try to be together and move forward with the solution of the moment.”
For these and other reasons, the company is excited to measure the results of these technologies.
“Our next steps now are to collect data from Velocidade por Via, a project that we started last year and now we will monitor these results. Make sure it brings positive results to the cooperative and start the project with video telemetry as well.”

Creation of the Lavoro Safe Driving Program
We also spoke with Thiago Pereira, fleet specialist at Work, which managed to control speed and reduce the number of high-risk drivers by 55% with the support of Golfleet.
How many vehicles are there in Lavoro fleet management? How many of them are equipped with Golfleet?
“Lavoro Agro Roading has just over a thousand vehicles spread throughout the national territory, traveling an average of 3.000 to 3.500km per month. Today, a little more than 90% already have the Golfleet Telemetry installed."
What was the reality of fleet management like and why was the Safe Driving Program created?
Thiago shared that the Safe Driving Program arose from the need to have greater control and actions over drivers' attitudes and behaviors.
“We were experiencing a high number of accidents and traffic violations and, therefore, we searched the market for technology that would help us monitor driver behavior to reduce these indicators.”

How was the creation? What exactly are your goals?
“The Program was based on three pillars. As the main basis, the management of information and receipt of it through the Golfleet platform, the consistency of information reporting, the identification of what needs the fleet manager and the safety, health and environment area could act on and the recognition of the best drivers.”

How was the launch and adherence to the Safe Driving Program?
The Program was launched via a live broadcast for all company employees, with more than 2.000 simultaneous accesses and the presence of the company's CEO, HR Director and Commercial Director.
“In this live, we talk about Lavoro’s current scenario and what the outlook is for the coming periods, such as zero accidents, reduction in the number of traffic violations, reduction in the number of drivers in the risk category, as well as an engagement talk.”
What have been the results since the launch of the Safe Driving Program?
“In six months of project we have already computed 40% reduction in traffic violations, 35% reduction in accidents and 55% reduction in drivers in the risk category."
How did Golfleet contribute to this result?
Through the Golfleet platform, Thiago explains that it was possible to map the behavior of drivers and act individually with each of them.
All this through individual reports per vehicle, which allow analyzing the driver's performance during the analyzed period.
“Everything was only possible to achieve with the help of the Golfleet platform, mainly with the speed and driver behavior control module.”

Golfleet's role in saving lives in fleet management
Now that we know the significant results that both Unicampo and Lavoro achieved with Golfleet, let's address how exactly our technology was a great ally.
To do this, we have Rafael Salvador, a Golfleet business consultant who has worked in fleet management for more than four years.
“As an expert, we understand the difference Golfleet makes in managing our customers’ fleets, through driver behavior and our infractions module.”
Regarding the Velocidade per Via (VVia) differential, Rafael explains that it does not work at parameterized speed, in which you would only have information when the driver exceeds the speed of the road, but it helps you analyze all infractions committed in all pathways.
Next, let's understand the module in more detail:
How does Velocidade Per Via (Vvia) work in practice?
“The module works by positioning the vehicle, so it cross-references data between the speed of the road and the speed of the vehicle at the time. The most important thing about this is that it acts in accordance with the Brazilian Traffic Code, so it organizes all medium, serious and very serious infractions. Remembering that very serious infractions are 50% above the speed of the road.”
How does Velocidade por Via (Vvia) work to improve driver behavior and safety culture?
With the information generated by the system, the fleet manager himself has all the information in the palm of his hand.
“By accessing the Speed by Road system, everything will be separated by a graph and ranked according to the drivers who committed the infractions, from the largest to the smallest. Generally, the system presents the 10 worst so that the manager can work on the driver’s behavior.”
Rafael emphasizes that one of the important points is also the information that shows what speeds were committed by the driver.
For example, you can do an analysis in which the road was 30 km/h and the driver went 200% above this speed limit.
“Another important point is that you can carry out an analysis of which roads your drivers commit the most traffic violations on. It generates a heat map and also provides a ranking with the 10 roads where there were the most speed violations.”

What is the big advantage of Velocidade por Via in preventing accidents?
“We know today that speeding is the third biggest cause of accidents. So, with Vvia, you will have all the information you need to preserve lives.”
With these indicators, it is possible to analyze your operation and work on this cause internally.
“Golfleet’s main dashboard provides all the information on your drivers’ behavior. Automatically, the system shows the last six so you can make a month-to-month comparison of how your management is progressing.”
It is also possible to search for the last thirteen months relating to your operation and, thus, carry out an even more complete analysis and know how to act proactively.
“Golfleet also has an infractions module, where you can check per driver who is most responsible for them. Another very important detail: you can separate by type of infractions, such as speeding, ignition on with the engine stopped or basic information from the accelerometer, which is acceleration data, sudden braking and inappropriate curves.”
Rafael also shares that managers can carry out an analysis every 100km.
So, let's assume that a driver has a very high mileage with a vehicle, it is possible to make a comparison with the one with less mileage. But the benefits are not just for managers.
“The driver's behavior and infractions help the driver, in his daily life with the vehicle, to be more attentive when driving, always working with prevention.”
This is because one of the features of the equipment is the buzzer, an audible warning. This way, every time the driver exceeds the speed limit, he will know that he must change his behavior to follow the guidelines set by the company.
