When we got together to discuss what would become the web series Somos Especialistas (We Are Specialists ), one of the topics that stood out the most was Speed by Route.
For the second episode, we had the contribution of the fleet manager of the Edson Queiroz Group, Milena Barroso, who shared about the changes that the use of the Speed per Way (Vvia) module brought to her operation.

This allowed us to achieve better vehicle quality, even in reducing speed, which was our main focus to work on”, shared the company representative, Robson Cardozo.
GT Foods was looking for solutions to its fleet challenges and partners willing to collaborate when it discovered it was not alone.

In 2019, the company faced a critical accident involving hospitalized victims. An alert that highlighted the urgency of addressing problems related to speeding in its fleet.
“We needed an action plan in which we could reduce these speed spikes and not have a future fatality, which was what could happen at the time”, revealed Cardozo.
The problems stemming from speeding had serious implications for GT Foods. In addition to increasing the risk of serious accidents that were already occurring, they also resulted in vehicle damage, increased fuel consumption, and an alarming rate of fatalities.
To overcome this obstacle, GT Foods implemented defensive driving training , with the support of an internal Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) committee to monitor and present monthly peak speed data to all group managers.
This approach brought to light a true picture of driver behavior and allowed areas for improvement to be identified.

GT Foods' commitment to safety was not limited to training its drivers.
This is because the company adopted a holistic approach, involving not only its current employees, but also new ones who joined over time.
Furthermore, every year during the Yellow May campaign , GT Foods seeks the collaboration of partners to promote awareness about issues such as:

On the other hand, the results speak for themselves. The partnership between the Edson Queiroz Group and Golfleet resulted in a reduction in infractions, an improvement in fuel consumption and, above all, a notable change in driving practices.
“But we still have a very interesting path to follow, a change in culture, which cannot be adopted in the short term”, recognizes Milena Barroso.
“Stop focusing on infractions and always focus on risky behavior, prevention and correction.”
